Describe your college experience
While my first weeks of dorm-life left me feeling homesick, I quickly learned to love the truly singular experience of UCSC's environment. From waking up to deer blocking your path to class, to the game nights hosted by the RAs, I have found an encouraging community that I am proud to be a part of. Regarding academics, this campus has a plethora of tutoring facilities that have endlessly supported my learning and amazing professors who genuinely care about your success.
Tip for future students
Be sure to involve yourself in campus activism! Not only is it a wonderful way to meet like-minded people, it is a strong method of standing for something important and involving oneself in campus activities. Do not neglect the on-campus tutoring! Its cost is already included in your tuition, so get your money's worth from the kind and hardworking tutors! And, of course, do not be afraid to make lasting connections with the people you meet. Everyone here is kind, friendly, and waiting for a friend just like you.
Favorite class
My favorite class so far was my Oakes core class; Social Justice. My professor, Mrs. Knisley, fantastically articulated a broad stroke of societal and systemic modes of oppression within American society, and encouraged students to bring personal topics to class discussion. I have never felt closer to my peers, nor learned so much about so many different people in any other class. Can't recommend it enough!

Ideal way to spend a free night
My ideal way to spend a free night is in my room with my closest friends, bundled up in blankets, Chinese takeout in hand, face-masks on, watching Lost Boys.
