I am very warm, bubbly and enjoy meeting new people!
Hi, my name is Ava Filipovic! I'm a second-year economics major at UCSB. Outside of class, I'm involved in Greek life, a few campus clubs, and I love staying active in my community. I'm excited to share what makes UCSB special and help you picture yourself here.

Describe your college experience
I have truly loved University of Santa Barbara. The community is outstanding and I feel such strong support in classes and in extraciriculars.
Tip for future students
A tip I would have is to not be scared to get involved. As a freshman it is easy to feel overwhelmed by all the new opportunities. Just taking it step by step and asking for advice from peers is the best way to navigate UCSB!
Favorite class
Taking the new Econ 97 new student seminar allowed me to meet professors I was going to have in the future and know how to prepare for the Economics major.
Career goals
I'm an Economics major with a Technology Management certificate, and I'm aiming for a career in brand marketing and project management. I've run social media for a local business and reviewed P&L statements with the store manager, and I liked that the creative side and the numbers were connected. Long term I want to work somewhere that lets me keep doing both.
Ideal way to spend a free night
Dinner with friends somewhere in IV or downtown, then walking down to the beach. I'm from San Diego, so I find myself always by the ocean. If I'm staying in, it's a movie and whatever I've been baking that week.
High school or secondary school
Cathedral Catholic High School, San Diego CA
Favorite spot on campus
The path near the lagoon. Anytime I need a reset or especially during finals, this walk with the ocean breeze is so calming. There is always things going on from music, picnics, and animals it is the best place to reset.
Meeting point
