Describe your college experience
Transitioning to college was definitely an adjustment, but it's helped me become much more independent. At UCSC, I've enjoyed exploring different classes, meeting new people, and taking advantage of everything the campus has to offer. As an Environmental Studies major, I've had opportunities to learn both in the classroom and outdoors, and I've grown a lot academically and personally throughout my time here.
Tip for future students
Don't be afraid to step outside your comfort zone. Go to office hours, get involved in clubs or campus events, and take time to explore Santa Cruz.
Favorite class
The best class I have taken at UCSC is Stats 7 because it challenged me. I struggled a lot in the beginning, but after speaking to advisors and attending office hours and study groups, I slowly gained confidence and improved my understanding of the material. By the end of the course, I was proud of how much I had learned. That experience taught me the importance of asking for help, staying persistent, and taking advantage of the resources available on campus.
Career goals
My goal is to work in environmental conservation and sustainability, where I can help protect natural resources and develop solutions to environmental challenges. I'm interested in working with organizations that prioritize conservation, climate resilience, and ecosystem restoration.
Ideal way to spend a free night
My ideal free night is grabbing dinner with friends and watching a good movie or TV show.
