Describe your college experience

It has been amazing. I feel like I have found my place and have made real and genuine connections with people. I feel like as an Animal Science major, I have definitely had a more unique experience than most, but that's not to say I haven't had a traditional and exciting college experience so far, it just means that on top of that I assisted in the delivery of a litter of piglets. I was really worried about college originally because I not only wound up selecting a random roommate, I ended up having an international roommate as a queer man. I did not know what to expect at first or if he would even respect me, but he instantly became my best friend and one of the most important people I have met so far.

Tip for future students

Make sure you get to know your roommate a bit before moving in together. Even if they are randomly assigned, reach out to them and ask for their number and​/​or social media handles, it will save you so much anxiety rather than sitting there and waiting to meet them in person. Also, genuinely be yourself in college. Literally no one cares anymore and for the first time in your life there isn't a localized societal pressure telling you who you should be, you actually get a safe environment to choose who you are now.

Favorite class

My favorite class BY FAR was my Animal Science class. I learned so many things about animals that I previously did not know before (which says a lot, because I am a GEEK about animals). On top of that, rather than our lab involving us poking and prodding at samples and specimens, we got to work in a barn with real animals. This allowed us to actually physically do the medical processes we were learning in class.

Career goals

After my Bachelor's, I plan on continuing on to my Masters in Secondary Education through the UMASS Amherst 4 + 1 Program. In an ideal situation, I will work at an agricultural high school as an Animal Science Teacher. If that winds up not being in the cards for me, I will teach as a high school Biology teacher and as a Vet Tech.

Ideal way to spend a free night

On an ideal free night, I would take the PVTA bus (which is a service provided by the 4 Colleges) to Mount Holyoke to hang out with my girlfriend and our mutual friends. And if its not a school night, we would go to a party. On a free night that is during the week, I would walk to Greeno sub shop (located in the basement of the Greenough Residence Hall) to get a sandwich, put on the nice lights in my room, and watch some of my favorite shows​/​movies​/​youtubers while crocheting.
