Describe your college experience
I am originally from San Francisco and worried about transitioning, so I did the early-fall start program to find community early on. I made a lot of friends in that program. I even met my best friend during that time. I attended lots of football games, ate out with friends, and met so many people. What I learned from the experience is to seize the opportunity to meet new people, especially as a freshman when everyone else is looking for community.
Tip for future students
I would advise new students to socialize! UW is such a big school, so even if you think that no one shares your interests or you feel out of place, I can assure you that you'll find friends as long as you make the effort. I'd also recommend that you think about your values and long-term goals in life.
Favorite class
My favorite class was a philosophy class during Early-Fall Start. I found it especially interesting because it combined philosophy to an extremely relevent topic which is how self discovery. The entire premise of the class was that we must first pretend to be something we're not until it becomes part of who we are. For example, before we become well-educated, we must first want to become educated, act the part, and eventually believe that we are educated.
Career goals
I'm still figuring out what I want to do after college, but I'd like to work in written business. I'd like to write summaries or reports for business valuations, or conduct and report on market research, or even become a teacher with a small business or side hustles.
Ideal way to spend a free night
On a free night, I'll typically work out, write cover letters for internships, go out to dinner with friends, or call my family back home.
