Hey, my name is Rickyla and I’m a senior majoring in Kinesiology with a concentration in Clinical Exercise Physiology. I’m also an international student-athlete from Barbados, being part of this campus has given me so many great experiences. I really enjoy meeting new people, and I’d love to help future students feel excited and at home here at MSU.

Describe your college experience
Coming to Mississippi State from another country has been an amazing experience. It’s opened my mind to new cultures and a different education system. At first, I was a little homesick, but the close-knit community here quickly made me feel at home. Being involved in athletics has also given me the chance to represent MSU and connect with others on campus.
Tip for future students
Learn to balance the academic and fun and also get involve in clubs and organizations from early.
Favorite class
My favorite class was Human Anatomy because we got to use the new scientific tables, which let us see the human body in a very realistic, hands-on way. It was exciting to explore and learn about the body directly, rather than just through a textbook.
Career goals
After college I aspire to be a physical therapist working with athletes and the general population.
Ideal way to spend a free night
On my free nights I usually indulge in self care. After that I watch some of my go to shows like Monk, A Different World and Gilmore Girls
