I have been at UT for three years now and I absolutely love it. I am originally from the Rio Grande Valley. I am a Government, Human Dimension of Organization, and Mexican American Studies major and a minor in Journalism and English.

Describe your college experience

My college experience has been amazing. Transitioning from a small town to a big city was a huge change but I was able to find many resources and organizations at the university that eased the transition. Through my university journey, I have been able to expand my professional career goal. My freshman year I was a part of an internship and research program called Home To Texas where I got to work in an environment that was different from the one I am use to. But using the tools and communication skills that I learned in UT, I was able to succeed. I was also accepted in the London True crime and podcast, mental health study abroad program where I went to London for 6 weeks and learned about different crime scenes around London and internalized the mental problems that people phase in a journalism job.

Tip for future students

Apply for Home to Texas, it truly changed my perspective of work and research. Another tip I would give incoming students is to take advantage of all of the opportunities that the university provides you with. If you ever feel like you need help, whether that is academic or mental help, there are places where you can contact them for assistance.

Favorite class

Favorite class has to be Amending the United States constitution with Dr Albert. I have always loved the history of the constitution and I was ecstatic when we analyzed different amendments and went into further details about the interpretations of the amendments and how congress men and women, and supreme court justice interpret the amendments.

Career goals

After graduating from UT Austin, I hope to go to law school and become an immigration attorney.

Ideal way to spend a free night

The ideal was to spend a Friday night is to order Cabo Bobs and watch Bob's Burgers on the projector with an apartment to myself.
