Fun guy who will show you the best spots on campus and tips to ace college.
Hi! My name is Abhi, I am junior MIS (Management Information Systems) and Finance major. I am from Suwanee, GA, but coming into college I barely knew anyone. I moved to Georgia a little before Covid hit, so my highschool experience was a little weird. The few friends I made in highschool didn't end up going to UGA with me. But I was able to start fresh and turn my first 3 years here into the best years of my life. You can probably catch around campus, whether that be downtown Athens, the IM fields, at Terry, the MLC, or any one of the many great outdoor study spots I know across campus. Even outside of campus, Athens has plenty of fun places I always like to drag my friends to. I am happy to share everything there is to know about UGA and Athens. I keep no secrets from anyone, so make sure you come with questions, the more the better!

Describe your college experience
My transition to college has been incredible. Moving to Georgia right before the pandemic, I had a hard time making friends in highschool. But on the first day of college, I met one person who was roommates with another guy I met and had my first college class with. This was the start of my great friend group that still continues to grow to this day. I just keep meeting new people who are all very friendly and open to meeting others as well. Through this, I got involved in many clubs, a fraternity and IM sports. Everyday feels different as there are so many activites to do on or around campus. Even if its the same place, like going downtown, theres always something new going on.
Tip for future students
My biggest tip for future students to not be afraid to talk to new people. They are all in the same situation as you, in a new place, probably a little confused and looking for new friends. Getting involved with clubs or organizations can help a lot with meeting new people, as well as simply just introducing yourself to new people you meet in your classes. The earlier you start meeting new people in college, the closer that friendship will be going forward.
Favorite class
My favorite class is Introduction to Information Systems in Business (MIST 2090). I love this class because it is a great introduction to studying at UGA's Terry College of Business. It is not a hard course, but is very useful, as it teaches the basics of using Excel and we regularly go through current events that I would have never heard about if it wasn't for this class. For example, when I was taking the course, there was a new streaming platform called Kick, and we spent some some time discuss how they pay popular streamers like xQc to stream on their platform and how this competition affects other platforms like Twitch. On top of the unique content, I loved the professor Karim Jetha. It was Dr. Jetha and this class that solidified my decision to major in MIS and Finance.
Career goals
I hope to find work more in the Finance field rather than MIS, preferably in consulting and working my way up into a higher position that manages assets, portfolios or individual wealth. I also hope to start a small business of my own. I am not fully sure what kind of business yet, but I hope to start one in an area that relates to one of my hobbies or something I enjoy.
Ideal way to spend a free night
On a free night, I love to invite my friends over to my apartment, or go over to their's and simply just hang out. We end up talking for hours, going on a walk or playing sports or video games. Either way, just spending time with my friends and seeing where the night takes us is my ideal way to spend a free night.
High school or secondary school

Favorite spot on campus
On the right side of Bolton Dining Commons, along the small creek, there is a perfect spot to set up a hammock. It is in my opinion the prettiest spot on campus, there are barely any people there, is fully shaded and in a prime location with everything nearby. Even a little bench and table nearby if needed.
Meeting point
UGA Arch on the University of Georgia campus
