Friendly, positive senior that has lots of tidbits of knowledge to share!

Hi! I’m Sophia, a senior on the pre-law track and proudly addicted to coffee. I am originally from Trinidad & Tobago, and came to Brown knowing no-one. I can confidently say coming to Brown was the best decision I ever made. I have met lifelong, genuine friends with my sense of humor, and learned from intelligent professors. I’d be happy to show you all the different study and food spots nearby, and answer any and all questions about the Brown experience. I’ll give you an honest review about day to day life! All questions are welcomed :)

Describe your college experience

Coming from a small high school I was a bit nervous about having such a large student body at Brown (small compared to other schools), but I was able to make genuine friends very quickly!

Tip for future students

My biggest tip honestly is to try sorority / fraternity rush because I had no idea about it prior to my time at Brown, and it was a game changer for my social life freshman year. Also, I'd say that its so important to know that everyone is struggling with something, despite social media looking curated. Being vulnerable with friends will allow for genuine bonds to form and you'd be surprised about how many of your peers are in similar situations.

Favorite class

My favorite class has been an introductory public health course titled Healthcare In the U.S. The instructor, Dr. Ira Wilson is extremely knowledgeable about the intricacies of the American healthcare system, and was able to make detailed information interesting and fun.

Career goals

I was initially pre-med but now I intend to attend law school!

Ideal way to spend a free night

My favorite way to spend a free night is hanging out with my friends and watching a silly tv show like The Office or SNL, and catching up about our days.

Favorite spot on campus

My favorite study spot on campus is either outside the Blue Room on the balcony when there is good weather or in the stacks of the Sciences Library (12th floor). There are individual cubicles with plugs giving you a lot of privacy to study hard.

Meeting point

Van Wickle Gates on the Brown University campus
