Hi! I’m a freshman at UW–Madison studying Consumer Behavior and Marketplace Studies in the School of Human Ecology. I’m originally from California and currently live in the Lakeshore neighborhood. On campus, I’m involved in a sorority, the Badger Equestrian Team, and a few other student organizations. I love meeting new people and helping others get a feel for campus life!

Describe your college experience
As an out-of-state student from California, I was definitely nervous coming into my freshman year at UW–Madison. I committed off the waitlist at the end of May without ever visiting campus and had never even been to the Midwest before, so everything felt new and uncertain. I was especially worried about living with random roommates and making friends. The first few weeks were a blur—figuring out my class schedule, learning the bus system, and going through sorority recruitment—but it all came together quicker than I expected. Now, I’ve found some of my closest friends, feel completely comfortable navigating campus, and genuinely love my classes. Choosing UW has been one of the best decisions I’ve made, and I hope to help others feel confident and excited about finding their place here too.
Tip for future students
Regardless of what dorm you’re in, who you’re living with, your major, or where you’re coming from, keep an open mind!! Also try to walk your classes and figure out the bus system and routes you want to take BEFORE class starts, it makes the whole process smoother. My biggest tip is take advantage of all the opportunities this school has to offer! Whether it be joining clubs, rush, or even painting rocks in Gordon’s dining hall. You never know what good could come out of it so definitely don’t limit yourself!
Favorite class
My favorite class has definitely been CNSR SCI 250, which was the Retail Leadership Symposium. It was so cool being able to hear from different guest speakers every week and build connections and ask questions. We heard from speakers from all fields - from Culver’s to Wilson’s Sporting Goods to L’Oreal. It was super interesting to hear how these influential people got started, especially since a majority of them went to UW-Madison. It was also very informative in understanding different roles in the retail industry and learning about potential career paths. They also switch out the speakers every semester so you can take it as many times as you want and hear from loads of different people which is so cool!
Career goals
I hope to do something in marketing where I can use my creativity and understanding of the consumer that I’ve been studying in class. I love fashion and beauty as well as sports and music so I have yet to narrow down what exactly it is I want to do. I definitely know I want a profession that allows me to be creative, work with lots of new people, and travel a lot!
Ideal way to spend a free night
My ideal free night would be getting ready with all my best friends while we blast music and then going out to a nice dinner and taking photos before going to a concert of our favorite artists. After we would get fast food before going home and debriefing before bed!
