Hi! I'm Gabriel, a first-generation Aerospace Engineering student at UCF and a current Housing Ambassador. Originally from Venezuela, I moved to Florida eight years ago, and my journey has given me a unique appreciation for finding a welcoming community and a place to call home. As a bilingual student fluent in English and Spanish, I enjoy connecting with students and families from different backgrounds and helping them feel comfortable as they explore UCF. Whether you're curious about engineering, housing, campus life, student organizations, or opportunities outside the classroom, I'm happy to share my honest perspective and answer your questions. Outside the classroom, I'm actively involved with SHPE (Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers), the CECS Dean's Leadership Council, and Housing & Residence Life, where I've developed a passion for leadership, service, and supporting others. Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) - Former Corporate Vice President of UCF's chapter, where I led corporate partnerships, professional development initiatives, and networking opportunities for 300+ engineering students. CECS Dean's Leadership Council - Council Member representing the College of Engineering and Computer Science while collaborating with college leadership to enhance the student experience. Housing & Residence Life - Current Housing Ambassador, welcoming prospective students and families through campus and housing tours while sharing my experiences as a UCF student. Student Government Association (SGA) Judicial Leadership Council - Council Member supporting student governance and promoting accountability, leadership, and campus engagement.

Describe your college experience

Coming to college was both exciting and challenging, especially as a first-generation student who moved from Venezuela to the United States. Like many students, I had questions about finding my place, making friends, and balancing academics with everything else. Looking back, getting involved on campus made all the difference. Since coming to UCF, I've found an incredible community through Housing & Residence Life, SHPE, and the College of Engineering and Computer Science. These experiences have helped me grow as a leader and a person, and have introduced me to lifelong friendships, mentors, and professional opportunities. One of my favorite parts of being at UCF is giving back by helping prospective students experience campus through a current student's perspective. My hope is that every guest leaves feeling informed, welcomed, and excited about the opportunities UCF offers.

Tip for future students

Don't be afraid to get involved early, even if it feels outside your comfort zone. Some of my best experiences at UCF came from saying yes to opportunities, joining student organizations, and meeting new people. The connections you build here can shape your college experience just as much as the classes you take.

Favorite class

It's hard to choose just one class because I've really enjoyed my engineering courses as a whole. They've challenged me to think critically while applying what we learn through projects and hands-on experiences. What has made these classes even more meaningful is the community surrounding them. UCF engineering students are incredibly supportive. We organize study sessions, collaborate on projects, and encourage each other to succeed. That culture of teamwork has been one of my favorite parts of being a Knight.

Career goals

After graduation, I hope to build a career in the aerospace industry where I can contribute to innovative technologies that have a meaningful impact. I'm interested in areas such as aerospace systems, manufacturing, operations, and technical project management. Beyond my technical career, I hope to continue mentoring students and giving back to the community by helping create opportunities for the next generation of engineers.

Ideal way to spend a free night

My ideal free night is spending time with friends, whether that's trying a new restaurant around Orlando, exploring campus events, or just relaxing and catching up after a busy week. I also enjoy staying active in student organizations and ending the night with a good conversation or a movie.
