Describe your college experience

Before attending my first day of school, I was apart of the MESA 3-week transition program, that allowed me to get a sense of classes and the rigor in STEM. Along with living in UCSB apartments, this program definitely allowed my transition to college to be easier and smoother. Besides this, with MESA's help I was able to better guide myself in hard classes, and to this day it is a challenge being an engineering student, but I have been able to find support systems, that have made my experience here at UCSB really exciting.

Tip for future students

One tip I always share is to try to take as many community college courses as you can before entering a university. Most classes have transferable credits to UCs, so whether you take GEs or prerequisite courses, it helps the college experience be less overwhelming if you start early.

Favorite class

I actually really enjoyed taking differential equations (Math 4B at UCSB), because it was a very interesting math class that had a blend of calculus and linear algebra. Thanks to the professor that class was easy to follow along with, and they also did sufficient practice problems in lectures to keep us engaged with the material.

Career goals

I'd like to work in the consumer products industry. Specifically, food and beverage or cosmetics!

Ideal way to spend a free night

I usually like hanging out with friends such as watching a movie together, and I really enjoy cooking for myself and friends.

High school or secondary school

Luis Valdez Leadership Academy (LVLA) Sunrise Middle School

Favorite spot on campus

I love to visit Campus Point or Depressions Beach (near Manzanita Villages)! These are amazing sites that oversee the beach, specifically for Campus Point there are many trails and views that are worth seeing.

Meeting point

Base of Storke Tower on the University of California, Santa Barbara campus
