Hello, I'm Bao! I'm majoring in Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE). I'm a 1st-year, but I already learned all the ball knowledge there is to life on campus (like bringing an umbrella everywhere, ask me how I learned this tech 😭). I love riding my bike around on campus and participating in Princeton's engineering clubs like Princeton Electric Speedboating (PES) and Princeton Rocketry. If I could be of any help to you in your journey, I'd love to show you around!

Describe your college experience

Since starting school here, I haven’t grown as much as I have ever had as both a student and person. I love that I have true independence here after moving from California. Yet at the same time, I love that there are enough activities on campus that I don’t need to do everything on my own. My personal favorite is that I could go to NYC right after my Friday classes on a whim if I felt like it.

Tip for future students

Be yourself, you shine brighter brightest being true to yourself!

Favorite class

My writing seminar, How to Raise a Machine, so far is my favorite here at Princeton. Every time I tell a classmate I’m in this class, they always respond “what?” I think this both highlights the unique education I am afforded here (what other school offers this if not Princeton?) and also the freedom I get in choosing any class that interests me. Besides, I get to improve my writing ability while learning more about AI.

Career goals

I want to work as an electrical engineer to either advance humanity’s computational ability for good or lessen the technological disparity across communities.

Ideal way to spend a free night

I love to go over to my friend’s dorm and hang out with food or maybe a movie. Sometimes my friends and I would use a conference room or empty classroom to watch horror movies and forget all things school related.

High school or secondary school

Laguna Creek High School

Favorite spot on campus

Niche pick, but I really love being being at the Wawa and train station (Princeton Dinky) on campus. After every game, there’s always a hangout at the Wawa and the snacks are cheap too! The Dinky is also the escape from the orange bubble, and what I’d take to attend concerts.
