Clubs, organizations & involvement

At Boulder, I am a member of the women's chapter Delta Gamma, as well as a part of the club CWA (Conference of World Affairs). Throughout my high school and college experiences, I have held the title of head lifeguard at my community aquatics center, responsible for not only overseeing the lifeguards, but also managing patron hospitality and handling demanding parents. Similarly, I have been a swim lessons coordinator for 4 years, in charge of the management and organization of 20 swim instructors as well as their clients, prioritizing a safe learning environment with customer satisfaction. Post-high school graduation in 2024, I took an educational travel gap year to immerse myself in different cultures. Through this program, I traveled to 13 international cities, engaging with leaders from various industries to gain a broader understanding of geopolitical business and perspective. While living solo in Barcelona for 3 months, I expanded my communication and linguistic skills through their international language school. I also held an internship position for the duration of my travels, responsible for creating digital media content weekly to promote their company as well as market to prospective gap year applicants, ages 18-24.

Describe your college experience

As mentioned above, my transition from high school to college was atypical in that I took an international gap year. However, during that time, I learned not only about the broader world but also about myself and how to manage interpersonal relationships. This positioned me for a smoother transition into my freshman year, which provided me the foundation necessary to balance my academics (my most important responsibility), as well as an active social life. I have found CU to be a diverse environment, combining outdoor activities, nature, academics, and equally as important, relationships. I have deliberately sought to strike a balance across all key areas in my life. By creating an approachable environment, I have been asked several times by different friends how to help them achieve a similar mindset

Tip for future students

Stay curious, put yourself out there, be open-minded, establish a routine, utilize all of your resources, and ask for help! College is a time of academics and social life, but it's also, just as importantly, a time for self-discovery. Try something that sounds interesting, say yes to new experiences, take time for yourself to stay grounded. To try is the only way to expand. Balancing responsibilities, social commitments, and mental health can be a lot sometimes, so it's vital to take a step back, ask for help, find a groove, and set a routine. Every staff member at Boulder that I've met has wanted to help me in some way, but it's up to you to ask for that help.

Favorite class

As an international affairs student, my focus remains on foreign policy, international relationships, trades, and patterns of power. Highlighting my interest in individual behavioral patterns and market trends, my introduction to microeconomics course has been the most fascinating to me. In my first lecture, I vividly remember the feelings of being overwhelmed and underprepared as the syllabus read on. It was that day that I decided I would not let something difficult stop me from trying. Though it was the hardest class that I have taken thus far, I truly enjoyed pushing myself to become comfortable in a class with such foreign concepts to me. Through studying with classmates in Norlin, and trying to gain a better understanding at office hours, I finished the class with an A. That course taught me many things, not only about economics and the CU staff's desire to help, but also that I could succeed in the things that caused internal doubt. Pushing myself to do the best I can, I am proud to say I held a 4.0 during my freshman year. Boosting my trust in myself, I am now excited for what my macroeconomics class will bring this fall

Career goals

After taking my international gap year and being awarded the opportunity to gain exposure to various fields of work, I chose to study international affairs. Though I am not currently convinced of which route to follow, I seek to work in a global setting, particularly in the interpersonal relations of companies or governments. As I am a hard-working and adaptable employee, I am confident I will find my place as I seek new opportunity.

Ideal way to spend a free night

I believe some of the most special things in this world are loved ones, live music, and good food. My ideal free night would include getting ready with my best friends and heading to a restaurant with live music! Any type of reggae, country folk, or older throwbacks, tied with great Mediterranean or Mexican food would be ideal. As I love to dance, this type of family-friendly environment really reminds me of home and never fails to be a great, memorable night! Bonus points if it's a warm summer night!

Favorite spot on campus

While I'm partial as a former Sewall resident, Sewall Beach has to be one of the best "hidden" gems of CU! It is never too crowded and creates a great environment for sports, picnics, studying, and meeting new friends. Whenever it was above 65 degrees, my friends and I were out there almost every day, being academically and socially productive. Having played football, frisbee, baseball, and gymnastics on that field, as well as just having laid in the sun to get some rays, it is easily my favorite spot to hang out and reset.
