Energetic Computer Science major who’s been around and knows a thing or two
Hello! I’m Max, a talkative and passionate Junior studying Computer Science. I’m a Jersey native (central in case you were wondering… yes it does exist) who came to Rutgers to experience a massive school where I could meet all sorts of people. So far, that has been the case and I have made many different friends from different areas and interests whom I cherish and burden with my horrible jokes. I have dormed on campus all my time here so I can tell you all about the different experiences I’ve had with that - from meeting my best friends to wishing the people on my floor were normal human beings. The college experience is such a wild, fun, and sometimes stressful ride, so please come with as many questions as you can think of (even the dumb ones) so that I can help prepare you for life as a college student, no matter where you end up.

Describe your college experience
I came into Rutgers knowing only a few people who were also coming here and now I have a big group of friends as well as multiple other friends outside of that group that I really value. I did a lot of learning, mostly from my friends, in terms of mindset and what I needed to prioritize. By that, I mean they helped me grow as a person and I wouldnt have met these people if it weren’t for Rutgers.
Tip for future students
Force yourself to get involved with a club/organization. Apart from the obvious resume padding that it gives you, chances are you will meet similar people through the club and make lifelong connections. I didn’t really engage with any clubs in my first two years and it is my biggest regret.
Favorite class
Data Structures has been my favorite class so far due to how effectively the course structure was set up. We had great lecturers and the recitation was a great way to reinforce what was learned as well as make a couple friends. The class had a lot of little projects that were due weekly that I had a lot of fun completing. Overall just a good experience especially since my recitation LA was great :)
Career goals
I hope to make things that people use in their daily lives. Whether that is being an application developer, software engineer, or whatever else doesn’t really matter to me. Apart from that I’d like any role that is people facing.
Ideal way to spend a free night
Going on some sort of adventure with my roommates and then going back to our apartment to hang out. A lot of my favorite memories are some variation of that formula.
High school or secondary school
Mercer County Technical Schools - STEM Academy
Favorite spot on campus
Busch Esports Lab. I haven’t been able to go as much as I’d like, but as someone who likes to play games I have found that the energy there is amazing and it’s a place where I can be myself and not have to worry about life’s worries. Just the other day I was there with my friend and it was packed. There were so many people having fun together that it was really just infectious and I’ve been thinking about it since.
