Double Dawg student who optimizes her college experience

Hi! My name is Ally. I am a fourth-year Double Dawg student, meaning I am getting my Bachelor's and Master's degree at the same time. I will graduate next summer with a B.S. in Health Promotion and Behavior, and a MPH in Health Policy and Management. I meticulously planned my schedule, and I can offer tips and insight into the Double Dawgs process. Moving to Athens was initially a big transition for me, coming from a big city. I quickly learned how unique and exciting UGA is -- I would not want to be anywhere else. I have been involved on campus through various clubs, and in my free time have worked part-time as well. I was involved in Greek life, but UGA has so many ways to get involved -- from clubs to intramural to part-time jobs -- and I love sharing options for every kind of student. I love to talk about my pride for this incredible institution, and I would be thrilled to show you around UGA's beautiful campus. I have explored every corner of campus, and I will do my best to answer any questions about academics, student life, and the transition to college. Looking forward to meeting you, and Go Dawgs!

Describe your college experience

UGA has been the best four years of my life. Athens is full of energy, exciting things to do, smart people, fun activities, and is truly the best college town. There are beautiful places to be outside, great concert venues, restaurants, and opportunities.

Tip for future students

Take everything step-by-step. You have four years to make decisions about your future, so live in the moment and enjoy college while you can.

Favorite class

My favorite class was my program planning course. We spent the semester developing an intervention for a health issue in a specific population. We were able to explore depth of the issue and learn how to strategically and systematically think.

Career goals

I hope to either apply for jobs in public health policy next year, or I will pursue another higher education degree.

Ideal way to spend a free night

I spend time with my friends -- whether that is hanging out at someone's house, doing a fun activity like trivia, seeing live music, or studying on campus.

Favorite spot on campus

My favorite place on campus as an underclassman was the North Campus lawn. I loved to sit outside in the shade by the beautiful old buildings when the weather was nice. Otherwise, the Science Library is a great facility with a computer lab, comfortable study spots, and a coffee shop.
