DC-enthusiast Economics + IA major
Hi! I am Gabriela, a Junior studying Economics and International Affairs at GWU. I am happy to share my favorite on-campus experiences, hangout spots, and any tips on adapting to a city college. DC has so much to offer in multicultural, culinary, night-life, and recreational ambiances and I am excited to share it all :) I will tell you about ALL the professional opportunities that DC has offered me (& my friends in similar fields!) as an aspiring public policymaker, and about how GW faculty, staff, and fellow students have inspired my career path. Ask me about my experience as an international student (from Colombia!), my AMAZING study abroad experience in Paris, or about finding a community 'from scratch' in a new city.

Describe your college experience
Moving from another country and adapting to a whole new college + overall culture was definitely tough, but I am happy to finally feel at home in DC!
Tip for future students
Getting yourself out there, and giving everyone the chance to become friends is the best way to make DC your home. It is rare to find people who you genuinely connect with, but you will find a community that makes it seem easy!
Favorite class
International trade theory and policy. The best class if you love applied macroeconomics and international affairs!
Career goals
After graduating, I want to work in economic/government policy. Think tanks, government consulting firms, and economic forecasting are my main interests.
Ideal way to spend a free night
Going salsa dancing at the Georgetown Waterfront will always be my favorite Saturday night plan.
High school or secondary school
Lycée Français de Bogota
Favorite spot on campus
Hanging out with friends in U-Yard (and more so if the hammocks are available) is the best way to de-stress after a challenging week!
