Current Senior Excited to Share Dartmouth's Secrets

Hi, I'm Jamie, a senior at Dartmouth (Class of 2027) studying Philosophy, Politics, and Economics. I'm a former first-team rugby player and lead an a cappella group, so I know how to balance a packed schedule and find community on a small campus. I love helping prospective students picture themselves here, whether that's choosing a major, finding your people, or surviving your first Hanover winter. Ask me anything, and I'll give you my honest take!

Describe your college experience

Dartmouth is an incredibly unique “island of learning.” We’re in the middle of nowhere, which makes almost everything about our experience incredibly unique. Dartmouth has so many communities to get involved with, and it takes a real, unfiltered tour guide to get a glimpse into them. My time at Dartmouth has gotten better every year, and I love talking about it almost as much as I’ve loved living it. Let's figure out if it's the right place for you!

Tip for future students

Learn how to get comfortable being uncomfortable. Freshman fall is difficult for everyone, yet very few people are open about it in the moment. Once you're on the other side of it, you realize that it's that shared struggle that molds you into who you are: a confident, developed, career ready person.

Favorite class

I took Government 006 in my first year and it still stands out as one of the most intellectually stimulating classes I've taken. We followed political thought from ancient times through to Marx and dug into how our understandings of justice, fairness, and governance have changed over time.

Career goals

I intend to move out west and pursue tech business development.

Ideal way to spend a free night

Grab my friends and explore the upper valley, slowly but surely checking all of the area restaurants off of our bucket lists. Once we get back to campus, we may recuperate for bit before heading out and rendezvousing with our frat brothers or friend groups for a night out.

Favorite spot on campus

Since it re-opened last year, the Top of the Hop has been one of my favorite spots for studying, socializing, and relaxing. Fantastic views aside, it's a location where members of every class year can be comfortable showing up alone and meeting new people from all walks of campus.

Jamie was a wonderful guide! He was very accommodating when we arrived early and he met us ahead of when we had scheduled. He answered all our questions and showed us the ins and out. Would highly recommend booking Jamie when touring Dartmouth.
