I am a first generation college student and a Conn Coll Posse Scholar majoring in International Relations and Africana Studies, with minors in Global Islamic Studies and Arabic. My experience at Connecticut College has been shaped by a strong sense of community, meaningful mentorship, and opportunities to grow both academically and personally. I enjoy connecting with new people and would love the opportunity to share an honest perspective on campus life, academics, and the supportive environment that has made Conn such a rewarding place for me.

Describe your college experience

Coming to Connecticut College with my Posse cohort made the transition to college much smoother. Being in a new environment was eye opening and challenged me to step outside my comfort zone. Over time, I learned how to navigate college life, build meaningful connections, and work hard to succeed academically and personally. My experience has helped me become more confident, involved, and appreciative of the diverse perspectives that make the Conn community unique.

Tip for future students

Be your authentic self, learn to manage your time, and don't be afraid to step outside your comfort zone. College is full of opportunities to grow, so be open to trying new things, meeting new people, and challenging yourself. The more you put yourself out there, the more you'll get out of your experience.

Favorite class

My favorite class has been Arabic Poetry and Literature. It gave me a deeper understanding of ancient Arabia, the Arab world before Islam, and the Islamic world through poetry and literature. The class also counted toward my International Relations major and my Arabic and Global Islamic Studies minors, making it especially meaningful. The professor was amazing and made the material engaging through thoughtful discussions, making it a truly eye opening and memorable experience.

Career goals

After college, I hope to pursue a career in diplomacy and humanitarian work where I can make a meaningful impact. I want to contribute to creating a better future by working with communities, promoting understanding, and helping address global challenges.

Ideal way to spend a free night

My ideal way to spend a free night is hanging out with friends, relaxing, watching a movie, having conversations, and enjoying each other's company. I love creating moments where everyone feels comfortable, can laugh, share stories, and simply have fun.

My favorite spot on campus is Temple Green because it is surrounded by nature and has a calm, beautiful atmosphere. It’s a great place to relax, reflect, study, or simply enjoy the peaceful environment that makes Connecticut College special.
