I am a third year student at the University of South Florida studying Biology with aspirations of becoming a clinical anesthesiologist. I currently hold positions in a two student organizations, being Black men in Medicine as well as Big Brother Little Brother mentorship program. I am currently 19 years old and I enjoy running, cooking, weight lifting, and playing basketball in my free time.

I am currently a member of the University of South Florida's chapter of black men in medicine, where I serve on the fundraising and event planning council. I also hold the treasurer position for the University of South Florida's chapter of Big Brother Little Brother mentorship organization.

Describe your college experience

I would describe my transition from high school to college as as eye opening. I spent the better part of the first couple of weeks that I was on the campus going straight to class, studying at the library, then going directly back home day in and day out. I feel I was previously a very introverted person, however week after week I had more and more people reach out and communicate with me to the point where i realized that I would have to break out of the shell I was holding around myself, which I feel was the best decision I could have made! I started going to on campus events and taking the time to go to the campus recreational center, which allowed me to meet the people that I communicate and hang out with on the daily, bettering my physical and mental health in the process. I was also able to better my studying habits through learning bits and pieces from the people around me, which has helped me excel in many of the courses I have taken.

Tip for future students

One thing that I would tell future students to do is get involved early. In my first two months at the university, I made the mistake of only going to class and back to my dorm, neglecting to involve myself in the many events and social gatherings hosed by the multitude of student organizations as well as the campus itself. I have now had the pleasure of meeting many great people at this university through attendance of these events and joining student organizations.

Favorite class

My favorite class that I have taken thus far has to be General Chemistry I. Reason being that the professor for this course made it so that lectures were entertaining and inclusive, making it easier for me to understand the general coursework and making it one of my better classes that semester.

Career goals

After I finish undergraduate education, I plan on pursuing a masters in medical science with a focus on becoming a clinical anesthesiologist assistant.

Ideal way to spend a free night

My idea of an ideal way to spend a free night is getting together with my closer friends and cooking dinner for everyone, enjoying either a movie or show or a couple rounds of board games.
