my name is Libby Grace, and I was born and raised in the Athens area. I currently study religion and classics and absolutely love everything about campus and the Athens community. Whether it’s going to local bands, concerts, trying a new restaurant, or just walking around beautiful North campus, UGA is the most wonderful place with so much to offer for every type of person!! i’m part of the campus ministry The Table, which is an open and affirming campus ministry, and I’ve also been a part of the UGA choirs.

Describe your college experience

I grew up in the Athens area and both my parents are from the area so it is already been very close to my heart. Even as I toured other schools I just knew this was the place I was supposed to be. And even though it is my hometown, I still learn and find new things every day and it is such a different experience as you transition from growing up here to living here independently.

Tip for future students

Start with one major. It is always easy to add another one or switch. But going in with too much is very overwhelming. Start slow.

Favorite class

apocalyptic literature as it introduced me to entirely new religious texts and taught me how to become an independent researcher

Career goals

I hope to continue wanting to get my PhD in religion and become a professor

Ideal way to spend a free night

I love going downtown with friends to a new restaurant and ending the night at Jeni’s ice cream for a late night treat. I also love going to concerts and other musical events from local Athens bands.

Favorite spot on campus

Anywhere on North campus as it is beautiful and the oldest part of the school. I also love the music library because it is completely silent and a great place to study.
