Describe your college experience

My transition to college has been fairly smooth. I have loved studying things that I am truly interested in, and I've met a lot of people through academics. Getting used to being away from home was slightly difficult at first, but having control over my schedule and club activities has been amazing!

Tip for future students

Students shouldn't be concerned about finding friends or people they will get along with, especially if they are from out of state. I was anxious about meeting people who shared my interests, but there are so many opportunities on campus to meet new people, and so many events to attend. You will absolutely find someone who makes college feel more like home while you're here.

Favorite class

My favorite class so far has been my Methods of Archaeology class. It was a once a week, three hour lecture. We discussed ancient artifacts like stone tools and what working in the archaeology field would look like. I really enjoyed learning about how archaeologists conduct digs and how certain lithic tools were made. It changed the way I watch Indiana Jones, though.

Career goals

Ultimately, I would like to teach after college. I was a tutor for most of high school and really enjoy helping people understand new concepts. I would also like research experience in the anthropology field, but I would like to end up as a professor or teacher of some kind.

Ideal way to spend a free night

I enjoy taking some time to myself on my free nights. I don't always have the chance to get caught up on shows I'm watching or books I'm reading, so relaxing inside is a great way for me to wind down from school and take a breather.

Favorite spot on campus

My favorite spot on campus is Daughterly Hall, which is located inside the Trabant Student Center. It used to be a church but was converted into a study spot for students. It's very quiet in there, and the air conditioning is always running—it's my favorite place to study, especially at night. The stained glass windows are very nice.
