Anthropology major who will be open and honest about the experience at Hofstra
Hi! I’m Sienna, a freshman Anthropology major on an Archaeology track. I am from Westchester, New York, about an hour away from Hofstra. I was initially committed to another school, but switched my commitment after feeling that I would have a much more positive experience at Hofstra. I was initially very drawn to this school during a tour in my junior year, and kept that experience in mind when I made my decision to come here. So far my experience has been just as positive as I imagined. I’ve learned a lot about ways to connect with other students, navigate campus, and succeed in my classes. I would be more than happy to share what I’ve learned with prospect students, showing them the same level of helpfulness that I’ve been shown here.

Describe your college experience
I really love my experience at Hofstra so far. Professors are really involved with each individual student and campus engagement activities make it easy to connect with other students.
Tip for future students
Utilize your professors office hours, don’t be afraid to ask them for assistance, and try to interact with the other students in your housing complex if you dorm. It’s a nice way of making your first friends upon arrival.
Favorite class
My favorite class has been my Cultures of Latin America class, as in this class we cover different aspects of Latin American countries such as culture, social issues, etc.
Career goals
After college, I would like to work as an archivist or researcher, ideally in a museum.
Ideal way to spend a free night
On a free night, I go down to my house’s lounge and hang out with other friends in my house. We like to bake or watch movies often. Other nights, I usually end up hanging out with them in one of our dorms.
High school or secondary school
Harrison High School
Favorite spot on campus
My favorite spot on campus is the Dunkin. I am able to get breakfast there before class and even do early morning studying there if I have time, as there’s a lot of available seating.
