An outgoing music business major and singer who loves to stroll on campus.
Hello! My name is Autumn, a music business major, who loves to listen to music, sing, and perform. I am a cat-lover and highly enjoy cooking, shopping, traveling, and going on long walks. Fun-fact: One of my favorite pastimes is going on hour-long walks around the campus or even at home back in New York City. When I first came to Hofstra University, not a nerve was within me. I had a very enjoyable summer of 2026: the Knicks won and the summer was long and plentiful. If anything, I was ecstatic to be a part of the Hofstra pride. I would love to show you all around the Hofstra campus in hopes that you'll be a part of the pride as well whether you are a first-year, transfer, or international student. I am most certainly sure that becoming a Hofstra student will make you feel right at home just as it has done for me!

Describe your college experience
My college experience has been amazing. Before I entered college, I had always dreamed of going to this college because of its amazing Music Business program, as well as its closeness to my hometown of NYC. I have been able to make connections on such a welcoming campus that seems free, easygoing, focusing, and so alive. My professors have all been amazing and have stayed in touch with me even before the semester had begun. From walking on this campus during orientation, I was amazed by the structure, the organization, the dorms, the counselors, and the other students. The campus is not hard to navigate once you walk around and experience everything that it has to offer. Being from the city, my high school was very small that shared its building with other schools. Therefore, I was ecstatic to walk on a campus that had so much to offer with immense opportunities.
Tip for future students
For myself, I believe that my high school prepared me for what to expect while in college. Be respectful, intentional, mindful, and consistent. Do not slack, do not procrastinate, and work on your time management skills. Not only will these skills be crucial in college, but in life overall. Therefore, I believe that I probably should've understood that in college, people won't come up to you and give you hand-outs, you will have to work for them, and self-advocation is key; something that I have always believed in.
Favorite class
Survey of the Music Industry has been my favorite class because it talks about how the history of the recording industry has evolved over the past few decades. It explores how digital streaming has affected the incoming revenue of record labels. Because music is universal and connects people of all backgrounds, it intrigues me how billions of people are finding newer methods to stream music whether through digital downloading, Apple Music, radio, television, etc, shifting away from buying physical copies of DVDs and CDs. It is a topic that everyone in the world can relate to because we are the consumers, however, many are naive to such a rapidly changing technological world.
Career goals
I hope to own my record label. I also hope to be an artist and be in the music business, both in front and behind the spotlight. I want to inspire others and make others feel how those make me feel when I am listening to a song. Something so simple as putting on my headphones for hours completely brightens up my day or even simple pleasures as watches movies and television are what I can build a career around. I strive to have a career focused around media, music, and entertainment.
Ideal way to spend a free night
My ideal way to spend a free night would be by going home watching movies with my roommates, baking cookies, and relaxing. Sometimes, I need to regulate myself and have some quality alone time to give myself a piece of mind, do my hair, clean, cook, and wash my laundry. However, I love company, and I love to entertain and cook for others while they are in my home.

Favorite spot on campus
My favorite spot on campus would most definitely have to be the study areas in the dining hall located inside of the Sondra and David S. Mack Student Center. This is because it has a study area where you can charge your device, do your homework, and receive a piece of mind while still eating your food in the cool. I also like walking down the Hofstra gardens on the South side of the campus because it gives me a sense of tranquility while I am navigating to each of my classes, especially during the mid-day.
