Hello! My name is Akshera! I will be third year undergraduate student at UCSC who is studying Electrical Engineering with a minor in astrophysics. I aspire to be an aerospace engineer! I have worked many jobs on campus which gave me access to many amazing resources and these include programs assistant, tutoring, dining hall worker, and researcher at the Physics department and also vice president for the quantum computing club at UCSC. In my free time I love to do embroidery beading and watching shows and movies. My favorite movie is definitely the The Amazing Spider-man!

Describe your college experience

My college experience at UCSC has been very resourceful and exciting. It was definitely a big chance because I am now living near a beach and a forest so it is has so many great places that are so beautiful and relaxing. I have also gained so much experience within my two years so far and I was surprised because everyone said otherwise. I met so many people and so many different perspectives. It has so many opportunities for my department, Baskin engineering. I love it here because all the the resources, from clubs to research labs, are incredibly accessible if you just reach out.

Tip for future students

My college experience at UCSC has been very resourceful. It can definitely be difficult to put yourself out there at first and sometimes hard to find resources. However, once you put yourself out there and do some research and talk to other student in your first year as freshman or transfer student, it can be super helpful. Also just signing up for everything and going to all the events will help decide what you like and what you do not. I really wish as a first year college student I went to more events because not only do you gain more information but also get free stuff and free resources and more opportunities.

Favorite class

My favorite class has definitely been CSE-12 at UCSC because it was so exciting to see how we use truth tables and Boolean expressions to actually create physical hardware that can think on its own in a way!

Career goals

I hope to do my masters in aerospace engineering and pursue a career in aerospace. I just want to work with building satellites or spacecraft!

Ideal way to spend a free night

An ideal way to spend a free night is definitely crafting like doing embroidery beading and eating some sweet treats and watching a disney movie​/​kids movies.
