Academically driven, involved, social, and knows where to have fun or lock in

Hi! I’m Nuha, an Exercise Science student on the pre-med track. You’ll probably find me at the gym if I’m not in class, studying, or hanging out with friends. On weekends, my friends and I love exploring all the fun places downtown New Brunswick near College Ave and find cozy study spots. I’m also really familiar with the different opportunities Rutgers has to offer and love helping other students find ways to get involved, whether that’s through their major, clubs, research, or other experiences.

Describe your college experience

My favorite class so far has been Biology. I really enjoyed learning about how the human body works and understanding the processes that make life possible. Since I’m studying Exercise Science and plan to pursue medicine, I found the material especially interesting because I could see how what I was learning connected to my future career. It was also one of the classes that made me appreciate how much there is to learn about the human body.

Tip for future students

My biggest advice for future students is to put yourself out there and learn how to handle rejection. Whether it’s joining a club, making friends, or trying something new, not everything is going to work out right away, and that’s okay. It took me a couple of months to really feel settled into college, and honestly, the beginning can be difficult. Give yourself time to adjust and don’t feel like you have to figure everything out immediately. Once you settle in, you’ll start to find your people, get comfortable, and really enjoy your college experience.

Career goals

After college, I plan to take a gap year before medical school. I hope to use that time to work and gain more hands-on clinical experience, explore research opportunities, and continue learning about different areas of healthcare. I also want to spend some time at home with my friends and family before starting medical school. I see the gap year as an opportunity to grow both professionally and personally while preparing for the next step toward becoming a physician.

Ideal way to spend a free night

My ideal way to spend a free night is hanging out with my suitemates and floormates. We’ll usually hang out in the hallway, on the floor, or in the MPR, watching a movie, playing games, and just talking. I really enjoy those simple nights because they’re a great way to relax and spend time with the people I’ve met at Rutgers.

Favorite spot on campus

My favorite spot on campus is Alexander Library. I like going there to study, but it’s also one of my favorite places to hang out between classes. I’ve spent a lot of time there throughout my time at Rutgers, whether I’m catching up on work, meeting up with friends, or just taking a break between classes. It’s become one of those places that feels familiar and comfortable, especially when I have a busy day on campus.
