A studious psychology major who knows the best places on campus to lock in.

Hi! I'm Alexis and I'm a freshman psychology major on the bachelor's of science track, which is the same thing as pre-med. I'm from Long Island so I know all of the famous attractions here and where to get the best bagels or pizza. I'm a commuter an hour out, but this campus still feels like my second home! When I first came to Hofstra, I just immediately knew it was the place for me. I met so many new friends, some during Welcome Week and New Student Orientation. Many I've met are in my classes. Feel free to ask me any questions about campus, including great study spaces, academics, hidden gems, or ways to get involved on campus. I'd be proud to show you!

Describe your college experience

I absolutely love it at Hofstra! There's so many ways to get involved, places to hang out and make new friends, and experiences to take part in. I remember during Welcome Week I went to the city with a group of other Hofstra students for free to see MJ the Musical. That's when I knew I chose a great school! The people here are so nice and welcoming, and the professors are top-notch. Such a great school- proud to be part of the Hofstra pride!

Tip for future students

Buy a planner! Make sure you have all your important dates, like major assignments, quizzes, and exams, all in one place. Also, go to your class first to see your professor's teaching style. You might wanna buy a notebook instead of taking notes on a laptop if your professor is old-school, for example.

Favorite class

My favorite class is my biology lecture, even though it's at 8:30am. The professor is great and he makes the class fun and go fast. I also just love the subject of bio too, it's my favorite science because it shows you how we stay alive and the underlying reasons as to why our bodies function the way the do to keep us alive.

Career goals

I hope to either go to med school to become a doctor or to go to PA school to become a physician's assistant.

Ideal way to spend a free night

My ideal way to spend a free night is to watch a great movie with friends or to watch one of my favorite shows at my house.

High school or secondary school

Sachem North High School

Favorite spot on campus

My absolute favorite spot on campus is the 10th floor of the Axinn Library. That floor is dedicated to silent study, but it's a great place to get a lot of work done. From up there, on a clear day, you can see the Manhattan skyline- sunsets up there are exceptional too!
