Outgoing neuroscience and pre-law student who loves both sides of campus!

Hi! I’m a junior at UGA studying Neuroscience and Psychology with a minor in Law, Jurisprudence, and the State. I’m originally from Atlanta, and both of my parents are Dawgs, so UGA has always had a special place in my heart! I love that my unconventional path to law school lets me experience both the sciences and humanities, and I’m always bouncing between all corners of campus. Outside of class, I love staying involved on campus, spending time with friends, and exploring everything Athens has to offer. I can’t wait to show you around!

Describe your college experience

My transition to college was honestly pretty smooth! Both of my parents are Dawgs, so I grew up familiar with UGA, but I also knew what I wanted out of a college experience. I wanted a big school with a strong liberal arts and sciences college, plenty of opportunities to explore my interests, and a real sense of community. UGA checked all those boxes! Academically, I’ve loved having the flexibility to pursue both science and law. I’m majoring in Neuroscience and Psychology with a minor in Law, Jurisprudence, and the State, and I plan to attend law school after graduation. Beyond academics, I genuinely love everything about being at UGA. Athens is the perfect college town, and there’s always something going on, whether it’s a football weekend, live music, or just spending time with friends downtown. UGA has given me the big-school experience I always wanted while still feeling like home. I really couldn’t imagine myself anywhere else!

Tip for future students

My biggest tip is to research clubs and organizations you might want to join BEFORE you get to campus! Involvement fairs are great, but they can be overwhelming, and a lot of organizations have applications and deadlines that are easy to miss. I really started getting more involved toward the end of my sophomore year, and it has genuinely made my college experience so much better. I just wish I had been more proactive about finding those opportunities as a freshman!

Favorite class

My favorite class was Law in Other Times and Places, which I took spring of my sophomore year for my Law Minor. My professor was incredible, introducing us as undergrads to law in such an entertaining and approachable way.

Career goals

After graduation, I plan to attend law school! I’m particularly interested in the intersection of science, medicine, and law, especially healthcare law, medical malpractice, and the pharmaceutical and medical device industries. Long term, I would love to either work as in-house counsel for a pharmaceutical or medical device company or pursue medical malpractice litigation. Ultimately, I hope to find a career where I can combine my background in neuroscience with my passion for law!

Ideal way to spend a free night

My ideal night is a mix of staying busy with sorority events or club meetings, grabbing dinner with my roommates, and spending time with friends. I love a spontaneous drive to get ice cream or just seeing where the night takes us!

High school or secondary school

Favorite spot on campus

My favorite spot on campus is definitely the Science Library! One of my favorite things about my unconventional path to law school is that I get to spend so much time on South Campus in the science buildings. I love studying alongside students in science, engineering, and math, even when I’m working on something completely different. Something about that environment makes me feel so much more productive! Plus, a lot of my STEM friends study there, so it’s the perfect place to get work done and spend time with friends.
