Outgoing Pre-Med student who loves to talk science and philosophy.

Hi! I am Anna, I am a pre-med track over-achieving student who survives on caffeine and fruit snacks! I love learning and discussing new ideas with the people around me, trying to find answers to problems and prove myself wrong (or right occasionally). I have always been an advocate for higher education and encourage pretty much everyone I know to go back to school and learn something they love!

Describe your college experience

Since I have transferred from Utah Tech, I have been able to find my people so fast! And actually, so much faster than I did at Utah Tech. I feel this school, though a majority of us are all members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, still brings so much diversity in backgrounds and cultures of each student. People here are willing to get to know one another and extend their knowledge; they come for the academic rigor and spiritual strengthening that BYU brings. As I have been here, I have been able to stretch my knowledge and wisdom in ways I never thought were even possible.

Tip for future students

My biggest tip is to take advantage of study spots on campus; please avoid studying in your dorm/apartment. Make school your full-time job, and enjoy your time when you are at home. You'll find a better work-life balance. Also get involved, never knock something until you have tried it.

Favorite class

Honors 120! I have LOVED my honors classes, simply because I am able to learn something out side of my chosen discipline, and I get to extend my knowledge in different ways. To add, I have also LOVED chem 105. Now, I cannot say I am the most perfect student in that class, but the rigor and the knowledge I have gained while being in that class is really exciting and I am always excited to learn while I am there.

Career goals

I hope to go to Med-School and then later onto Fetal Surgery.

Ideal way to spend a free night

My ideal way to spend a free night is surrounded by friends, food and board games!

Favorite spot on campus

I have an eternal love for the Life Sciences building and the Maeser building, probably because they are two places where I have found connection and safety. I feel that the Life Sciences building is my second home, as I have to be there a lot for research, but between the whiteboards and the labs, there is no better place to spend my time. I have also LOVED the Maeser building because it is full of interesting people and amazing information.
