Random psych major that explores campus unironically in her free time

Hello everyone! My name is Madeline, and I'm just one of your random students on campus who happens to have been everywhere. As a psych major, you'd think that all of my classes would be in the FHSS building, but I really have classes all around. And since I normally have an hour gap between classes, I just look around whatever building my last class or next one is in. I love hiking, jiu jitsu, rappelling, and everything to do with using my legs except for running, I hate running so much. Also, I have three adopted siblings, so I can really love anyone as long as they're in my life, so please be awesome and I will love you! Even though this is my first semester here, I have grown up visiting BYU every summer, and have had so many other hidden spots from my parents and relatives that I need to share. I also seriously just love meeting new people, and sharing all of my hidden knowledge (except for that one thing in the CANC, that one stays with me and my roommate) and just making long lasting friendships.

Describe your college experience

In the whole month I've been here, and the many times I've visited as a child, I've just felt accepted. I love the fact I don't need to be scared to bring religion into the conversation, that I can connect with everyone on one thing easily, and that the classes are always taught with a spiritual perspective in mind.

Tip for future students

My one wish I could tell others, which I probably will, is that you can test out of classes that were not AP equivalent but was a higher level than an average high school class or that you have just already learned.

Favorite class

Writing Within Psychology, or PSYCH 307, is my favorite class so far here at BYU. I love to write and explain my ideas to people, especially on ideas and topics I am passionate about. Because of that, and my excellent professor, I just truly enjoy learning about how to do two things I love combined.

Career goals

I hope to become someone in an office where my psychology degree greatly helps me in my job, as well as those around me. Not just that, but at about thirty, I want to become a mother. At that point, if my husband can not take care of them, I will consider whether I should stay in the workforce with God and His logic as my guide

Ideal way to spend a free night

While I am absolutely an extrovert, my ideal free night would be to just curl up on a sofa, read a book, watch a movie, or go snuggle with one of my siblings.

High school or secondary school

Trabuco Hills High School

Favorite spot on campus

HBL Library, because I loved hearing the background noise of people studying, working, or having fun, along with all of the random information I can find anywhere in there.

Meeting point

Joseph F. Smith Building Courtyard on the Brigham Young University campus
