Hi my name is Payton Shively, and I am a recreation and sports management major. I moved from Toledo, ohio and I knew no one from my hometown coming here. Sounds scary I know, but I love adventures and challenges and I was not scared for what laid ahead of me. I love being outside, you can find me playing pickleball, spikeball, playing catch, at the beach, working out, or just a nice walk. Something that has helped me transition is my phone. Being able to connect with everyone back home has seriously made the transition so much easier. I’m so excited to show you all my favorite spots and I hope you can see yourself in them as well. Come with an open mind and be ready for some fun!

Describe your college experience

I think that my transition have been very smooth, a little homesick here and there but coastal makes me feel so welcomed.

Just go for it and try everything, there are so many opportunities out there that you might not even know exist.

Favorite class

Intro to recreation and sports management because I love learning about things I am interested in and I provides me with so many opportunities.

Career goals

I hope to either work for the NFL or the MLB in game day operations.

My favorite spot on campus is the student union because there are so many areas for students in there to relax get together with friends.
