BYU Finance Student From Southern California
Hi! I’m Boden, originally from Southern California and currently studying finance with an interest in pursuing wealth management. I love staying active, especially surfing, basketball, water polo, swimming, hiking, and pretty much anything outdoors. I also enjoy meeting new people, going on dates, game nights with friends, and following sports and investing. My time at BYU has helped me grow academically, socially, and spiritually, and I’ve really enjoyed becoming part of the community here. I’m excited to share my experiences and some of my favorite parts of campus with you.

Describe your college experience
My transition to college was both exciting and challenging as I adjusted to being more independent and managing a heavier workload. Over time, I became more confident, developed better study habits, and found classes that genuinely interested me, especially finance. My experience so far has helped me grow academically, socially, and personally, while also giving me a clearer idea of what I want to pursue in the future.
Tip for future students
My biggest advice is to get involved and meet as many people as you can. College goes by quickly, so take advantage of opportunities, try new things, and find a good balance between working hard in school and enjoying the experience.
Favorite class
FIN 201 was my favorite class because I genuinely enjoyed learning about finance and how it applies to real-life decisions. I also really appreciated how Professor Brau included spiritual thoughts in every class, which made the course feel more meaningful than just learning the material.
Career goals
After college, I hope to pursue a career in wealth management where I can help individuals and families reach their financial goals. I would eventually like to build my career in Southern California, where I hope to settle down and raise a family.
Ideal way to spend a free night
My ideal free night would be spent with friends, whether that means going on a fun date, having a game night together, or camping somewhere nearby. I enjoy anything that gives me a chance to spend quality time with the people around me.
High school or secondary school
Sage Hill School
Favorite spot on campus
The Harold B. Lee Library is my favorite place on campus because of the wide variety of resources available for studying, research, and completing assignments. I also enjoy the sense of community there, since it is a place where students can study together, help each other, and feel connected to campus.
