I’m an extrovert marine science major! I know how to get involved on campus!
Hi, I’m Maddie! I’m a freshman majoring in Marine and Coastal Environmental Science. I moved down here from New Jersey for this beautiful campus and weather. I was very nervous coming but it was the best choice I made for my studies and college experience! On campus, you will always find me at the gym or Thompson Library either for starbucks or a study session. The free gym is definitely something everyone needs to take advantage of with all new machines. There is also a rock wall and workout classes you will also see me using once in a while. Some activities outside of campus you will find me doing is beach trips, surfing, concerts, coffee shops, and exploring downtown! If you want to know any fun spots for anything just ask, I’ve been many places around on side quests!

Describe your college experience
At first I was scared to me moving to a whole new life but Coastal Carolina University is small and family like with a fun student life. It was so easy making friends and join clubs with all the opportunities here that now it feels like home.
Tip for future students
Before coming to college, know the best way for you to study. I did not and have had to adjust and do a lot more studying to figure out what method works for me.
Favorite class
Intro to Marine Science because I am learning what I love and doing in the future. I also love how my professor is interactive with us and wants us to succeed.
Career goals
After college, I hope to be a marine conservationist. I do not which specifically conservation but I want to do my part in what I can to save what I love.
Ideal way to spend a free night
My ideal way is to go get dinner with my friends at Hicks and of course the real ice cream after. Then my friends and I play volleyball at Tradition Lawn. Finally, have a movie night with them and snacks from the POD Market.
