Outgoing UK computer science student with the scoop on the best spots in campus!
Hi I'm William, and though I'm from the UK I'm already proudly calling this place home! I'm a computer science major with a drive for meeting people from all walks of life to hear their opinions on Interstellar (it might come up). When I moved across the world to come here I had no friends and no idea what to expect, other than the crazy (AMERICAN) football games! I was so happy to find out that the campus is BEAUTIFUL and that literally every person here is an angel ready to guide lost souls to their next class, or to the Creamery if that's secretly what they needed (don't worry, I'll point it out just in case). I stumbled across my favourite spot on campus — the library — where when I'm not studying, I'm gaping and dreaming at the insane machinery and tools in the workshop that are available to all students! I'll show you where it's at. When I'm not in the library, I'm people watching from any of the numerous campus benches, holed up in a club room with my new mates, or enjoying a bite from the new Costa Vida in the Wilk (don't worry, you have plenty of other options if that isn't quite your cup of tea). Anytime on campus I'm excited to answer any and all questions so come prepared! The more you ask the better!!

Describe your college experience
Moving from across the world I was worried that my experience in the US would be intimidating and confusing but I've felt so at home here on BYU thanks to the orientation, staff, and if course the amazing students. Orientation helped me to see what the college really has to offer and where to go for further help and my peers have been so kind to me from day one! I love my classes and professors, and the campus itself is so fun to explore.
Tip for future students
You NEED to find out who your peers, counsellors, and mentors are and then TALK TO THEM!! There is literally no reason to go about this blind when we have so many amazing people who've been in your exact shoes and want to help you have the best time here possible. Find your department's advisors and talk to them!!
Favorite class
Writing 150. I've loved it because it's taught me already not just how to write well but what it means to become a good writer. The ethics and relationships that make inspirational authors are not usually the subject of education so it's great to get that vision and guidance now!
Career goals
I will start a company selling tech and software to schools for helping young aspirational students, and also work on publishing multimodal art (I love music, books, and movies). I'll also start a family!
Ideal way to spend a free night
My ideal night would be spent at home or a friend's home with people close to me bantering about our crazy lives and cooking/eating dinner, watching movies, and playing games. I love the honest conversation and humourous angles on what's going on in our lives!

Favorite spot on campus
I love the 4th floor in the library because of the rare and rich Asian cultural finds there as well as the tech available to students from the rental spaces and cameras to the open workshop!
