Outgoing exercise and wellness major who is proud to be a BYU cougar!

Hey! My name is Sydney and I am studying exercise and wellness here at BYU! I attended one year of college at Mt. Hood Community College in Oregon, and this is my second year at BYU. I absolutely love the uplifting environment and the competitive programs we have here! I grew up in a family of 10, my parents and 7 sisters! I love to play any sport and I will always scream loud for the cougars in the football stadium. I love spending time outside, playing the piano, and making yummy food. Traveling has always been a part of my life that I just love and I have dreams to see the world. I love adventures!! BYU has been the biggest blessing for me! I have made so many friends and have been uplifted by my peers, professors, and coworkers! This is such a fun and absolutely stunning campus. Looking to the east after walking out of any building is my favorite thing to do because the mountains are so big and so beautiful! There is something for everyone here!!

Describe your college experience

Transitioning from my old school to BYU was very interesting because the size, culture, and environment are incredibly different. However, I loved it. It was fun to experience both a small, tight knit college, and a big university that feels like home. College is so fun and social, there is something for everyone!

Tip for future students

One thing that I wish I knew before starting college is that education is a privilege and our 20’s are so fun. Take your education seriously because it is so awesome that we have this opportunity to learn so much. However, do not forget to have fun! Live your life and take advantage of the time you have to be young. Find balance in your life!

Favorite class

My favorite class was my anatomy class. I loved this class because it fascinated me how the human body works!! My dad always says, “our bodies are amazing,” and it is so true!

Career goals

My career goals are to work with kids in sports as well as individuals who have a desire to improve their health. I would love to help with recovery from injuries as well!

Ideal way to spend a free night

The ideal way to spend a free night is doing something fun with my friends! We love silent discos, game nights, getting food, karaoke, spending time outside, and meeting new people! We also love weekend trips and spontaneous activities!

Favorite spot on campus

My favorite spot on campus is the duck pond on the south side of campus. I love this area because it is so beautiful and peaceful. It is a nice place to walk or study between classes and enjoy nature. The ducks are adorable as well. The view of the mountains from any part of campus is also so breathtaking!
