Business major, world traveler, and Portuguese speaker who loves BYU
Hi, I'm Ella, and I'm so excited to show you around BYU! I actually grew up overseas, so exploring new places and eating my way through them has always been my thing, and that curiosity is basically why I ended up loving this campus so much. I'm a Business Management student focusing on International Business, and when I'm not in class, you can usually find me outside somewhere, rock climbing, hiking, or just finding any excuse to be active. I also lived in Brazil for a while, where I taught English and became fluent in Portuguese, and that experience is a big part of why I love connecting with people from totally different backgrounds. The rest of my free time goes to anything creative: museums, concerts, farmers' markets, and a lot of cooking (ask me about my favorite recipes; I have opinions). On campus, I coordinate large-scale leadership events and have helped raise $135K for global initiatives as the top student fundraiser, so I know this place inside and out, from the classrooms to the hidden gems most people miss. I love sharing that mix of adventure, curiosity, and BYU pride with anyone willing to listen, and I can't wait to do the same for you!

Describe your college experience
BYU makes the transition to college really smooth. You are required to live in on-campus housing your first year, and although that can feel frustrating, it sets you up for so much friendship and success. There are so many incredible resources available to help you adjust. It is an incredibly social campus but also a very studious one. The library is always full, and everyone works hard to succeed in class. I have found that you really do get out what you put in. It was tricky to find that balance at first, but once I found my groove, it was pretty easy to stay on top of work, school, and my social life.
Tip for future students
Get to know your professors. BYU professors love their students, and building a relationship with them will change your experience. Knowing them as more than just some guy or lady makes such a difference. Also, don't let ratemyprofessor ruin your experience with a professor. Try to go in unbiased and put in effort to understand them before you make a judgment.
Favorite class
Managerial Leadership Development (MSB 413)- I loved my professor, and the class is structured in a way that really allows students to reflect on and further develop their leadership skills. It is such a great way to grow personally and academically.
Career goals
I hope to work in NGO's and Non-profits doing project management. Ideally, this will be an international career, but I will likely start in the US and move from there.
Ideal way to spend a free night
I love to be with friends. Sometimes that means going out, hot-tubbing, playing sports, or just watching movies and games at someone's apartment.
High school or secondary school

Favorite spot on campus
I love the duck pond! There is a big grassy area and a pond/river where you can sit, study, eat lunch, etc. It is super peaceful and a great way to decompress.
