Describe your college experience
I think that the academic load is intense, and has been a struggle, but as I’ve been here longer I’ve gotten to see some of the resources available to help us and it is getting easier! I’ve made a lot of friends here and the campus is beautiful!
Tip for future students
Something that has helped me the most this year is trying to keep at least one day a week free from homework. Having a reset day to take care of the things that pile up at home, like cleaning and meal prepping, has helped take stress off that I didn’t realize contributes to stress about school. Taking advantage of time during the day to do homework before I get home has been great!
Favorite class
Bio 130- the teacher was so sweet with the students and cared more about our learning process and us feeling connected to the material than grades and tests.
Career goals
I hope to teach biology or stem subjects at school. I’ve taught swim lessons for kids in the past and I really liked being around them. I also think that a teacher can make a big difference in a students attitude about school.
Ideal way to spend a free night
I love to be around my friends, especially when it is nice outside. We like to play weekly pickleball games, so a perfect night would be playing pickleball (and winning) with friends, then going home to hang out with my husband, watch a movie and eat a good dinner! Bonus points if it rains!!
High school or secondary school
Shadow Ridge High School
Favorite spot on campus
There is a really pretty grassy spot over by the honors building- it has a lot of trees and the deer like to hang out over there. It’s a much calmer part of campus and when the weather is nice it is a really peaceful place to rest your brain.
