Happy business student, tech enthusiast, and BYU superfan
Hi! I'm Lot, I am a Junior in the Information Systems program in the Marriot School of Business. I'm from Herriman, Utah and came to BYU after my LDS mission in the Philippines. Between the Association for Information Systems club, The Rollins Center Creators club, and the Filipino club, I've found lots of ways to get involved and meet tons of people. Beyond clubs, I LOVE going to all of the BYU athletic events and supporting our team. I can tell you all about the ROC and the different events going on. Outside of school you'll find me dirt biking, snowboarding, exploring the mountains in my jeep, golfing, and spending time with my wife and friends. I've lived at Heritage, south of campus, and now in a house with my wife. I love BYU and the amazing Provo campus, and I'm excited to show you around and help you picture your own experience here.

Clubs, organizations & involvement
I'm part of the AIS (Association for Information Systems) club, which has been a great way to connect with other IS students. I've also gotten involved with BYU Sandbox through the Rollins Center, where I've gotten to brainstorm and work through ideas with other business school students—that's been one of my favorite ways to get involved outside of class. On top of that, I'm part of the Filipino Club at BYU, which has been a fun way to stay connected to that side of my background and meet people with similar experiences.

Describe your college experience
My transition was pretty easy, honestly. I came home from my LDS mission, moved into housing on the south side of campus, and got really lucky with roommates who made everything easier from the start. I ended up having an awesome freshman experience, and that's just kind of continued the whole way through. So overall, the transition wasn't stressful for me at all—it was actually really fun. The atmosphere at BYU, especially with how well their athletic programs are doing right now, makes it a great place to be.
Tip for future students
Don't be afraid to get involved early. I wish I would've jumped into clubs and programs sooner instead of waiting until I felt ready. I wouldn't stress about not knowing exactly what you want to study and do with your life, as you try different areas out you will naturally figure it out. Also, figure out a study routine that actually works for you instead of copying what worked for someone else, it's a huge skill that if you can learn it early on it will really benefit you long term. Last thing would be this: There are so many people out there in the exact same situation as you, do as much as you can to make the most of the social connections college can offer.
Favorite class
My favorite class so far has been Management Communication. This business class is designed to develop professional communication skills through business writing, oral presentations, and team activities. I loved this class because it helped me transform the way I communicate from a basic academic style into more polished and professional business communication. I especially enjoyed working on team projects that challenged me to communicate ideas clearly and efficiently. I’ve already been able to apply many of the skills I learned in the class to school, work, and other professional settings.
Career goals
I have a "dream plan" of how things will go once I graduate. If everything goes perfectly, I will create my own tech startup company my senior year through one of BYU's programs, sell that company after I graduate. After selling that company I hope to receive a great job offer through that startup experience at a large tech company. With my new job(hopefully semi-remote) I want to move around the US for 2 years with my wife exploring and seeing new places. I hope to be able to work remote and explore, and eventually buy a house and settle down somewhere we like.
Ideal way to spend a free night
A solid free night for me is either getting out on my dirt bike or snowboard depending on the season, regardless I love spending time outside. Beyond that I really enjoy hanging out with friends whether that's board games or watching sports, I enjoy spending my time with people just as much as I do being outside.

Favorite spot on campus
My favorite spot on campus is honestly the library. It's kind of a mix of everything, you can go there to study when you need to get stuff done. I'm almost guaranteed to run into someone I know whenever I go, which makes it more fun than just a study spot. Plus it's right in the middle of campus, so it's super convenient whenever I need to swing by.
