Intrigued music major that likes to be in the know

Hi, I'm Ginny and I love to try new things! I am always looking for ways to overcome my fears and become the best version of myself. I am passionate about music, whether that is creating it or listening to it. I love watching sports and I attempt to play them but I think I'm better at being a sports photographer. I love the arts, and I've recently discovered a love for chess. Ice cream is my go to sweet treat, and salt-&-peppered edamame for my savory snack. I have 1 brother and 6 sisters and we love to road trip together!

Describe your college experience

It was very hard at first to live away from family, but there are so many resources here at university and you really have to choose to involve yourself with things and people around you and find happiness in the small things!

Tip for future students

Have a meal plan/meal ideas because cooking for yourself can be a lot but it's so much better than relying on a meal plan from the school. It can seem like everyone is doing something but it's actually okay to stay in and study if you need to. Plan out your day but leave enough time to decompress in little bits throughout the day. If you're homesick, get rid of social media, watch a movie instead or go talk to someone, do something that comforts you. Participate in the college events, especially as a freshman.

Favorite class

I love my music major orchestra! It is very intense but I love performing and find a lot of joy through that!

Career goals

I'm still trying to figure that all out, but if I stay in music, I would love to be a studio violinist or a producer. If I do Sports Journalism, I hope to work for the NBA or a professional mens lacrosse team as their videographer or photographer. If I do Advertising, I'd love to be a director and work more on the production end, but still have a hand in the ideation and planning of advertisments.

Ideal way to spend a free night

I love to either explore my hobbies further or spend time with my roommates and friends. Sometimes I try to involve my friends in the things I am doing so I can maximize my time!

High school or secondary school

Davis High School

Favorite spot on campus

The JSFB is such a cool place to be and has a lot of natural light which is something I really appreciate. I also love the fourth floor of the music building because you get the best sunsets. BYU just got a new arts building and I'm also excited to explore that because it seems to also have a lot of natural light!

Meeting point

Joseph F. Smith Building Courtyard on the Brigham Young University campus
