Very outgoing and studying psychology. I find the purpose and meaning in school
Hello! I am Chelsea Stewart! I’m from a small town in Aubrey Texas just North of Dallas. I am studying psychology and hoping to get my doctorate after my undergraduate studies. I’ve absolutely loved BYU and my experience in learning here. I am someone who has found purpose here in my life and hope to grow that to a successful career. As someone who struggled her freshman year of college with the changes of life itself, I have personal experience with the successful way to attend this university and make it count. I grew up in an area where there were not many people with the same morals and standards as me. I was used to standing out, sometimes even being mocked for what I chose to believe. That prepared me to have a strong standing and voice and to advocate for others, which is what led me to psychology. When I’m not at school, you’ll find me playing sports. Mainly soccer or pickleball. I love the outdoors especially hiking and boating. Mostly I love life and people. I find purpose in helping others search for their purpose and find their identity

Describe your college experience
I’ve absolutely loved attending BYU. I love how we are set up to actually learn and grow rather than just get a grade. Professors clearly care about student overall wellbeing on top of their success. I feel we are set up to succeed and achieve.
Tip for future students
My freshman year I struggled to find my footing. I came into college with the wrong approach… get the grade and graduate. I soon found myself finding shortcuts rather than looking to develop grow and learn. If I could give one piece of advice, I would tell a future student that they would succeed, if they were willing to accept hard for growth. Accept that things may take time, but look at it through the lens of learning and growing as a person. You can get a job from graduating, you succeed in life when you understand and love what you are doing so make learning actually count.
Favorite class
I loved my psych 111 class from my freshman year. It is what got me interested in the psychology field specifically at BYU. I loved the focus of helping others and finding understanding within a career.
Career goals
I hope to graduate in psychology with my doctorate. I want to own a private practice to be a psychologist in clinical psychology. I want to work with teenagers in a clinical setting, helping those with mental health struggles.
Ideal way to spend a free night
I love hosting groups of people for games nights. I love being outside to go and hike or play sports.

Favorite spot on campus
I love the library. I love how there are different floors for what people are looking for. Quiet areas to really study, areas where collaborative work can happen, along with resources such as books and snacks for students when they need it.
