Outgoing Biochemistry major who know's her way around campus!

Hi! I'm Shivani, a Sophomore Biochemistry on the Pre-Med track. Growing up I always thought I would go to UMD and I'm so happy to be here! This place has become a second home to me with all the terp traditions and school spirit. You'll usually find me at the library or any one of the cafes and study spots on campus. My favorite spots are the ones that are more niche such as the many outside tables on campus or the library in Clarice! You'll also see me often at the gym, playing badminton, rock climbing, or running on the track! I'm more than happy to show you the hidden gems on campus and the best places to get coffee during finals season. I'd love to give you an honest look into what life is like on campus and what it's like to be a Terp!!

Describe your college experience

College so far has been amazing, I was worried at first that I wouldn't be able to branch out because I was an in-state student but it was really easy to meet new people through the many different events that happen on campus. The food at the dining halls is also really delicious which made it so much easier to adapt to living on campus. On an academic note, UMD has so many resources to help you out whether its tutoring, guided study sessions, or even office hours.

Tip for future students

Don't be afraid to branch out or try new expereinces!

Favorite class

My favorite class so far has been a journalism general education class that I took my first semester fo college. It was a really interesting class as we talked about scandals throughout history and the professor was very passionate about the class which made the class even more fun.

Career goals

After college I plan to go on to Medical School

Ideal way to spend a free night

My favorite way to spend a free night is hanging out with my friends and watching a movie or walking around campus.

High school or secondary school

Favorite spot on campus

My favorite spot on campus is Eppley Recreation Center, because there are a bunch of different activities for you to do and it's a really nice way to decompress after a long day. My favorite activity there is the bouldering zone!
