Goofy public health major who has too many school stories to tell.
Hey! I’m Meredith and I am a sophomore public health major. I’m only an hour away from home but College Park has definitely become my new home. I’ve learned everything there is to know from dining halls to navigating this huge campus. Besides sneaking energy drinks and being with my friends you can usually find me outside or studying in my secret spots. I’ll make sure to show you the best places for focus or for studying with friends. Or if you’re desperate for a last minute crunch (no pun intended) you can study in the dining hall! I hope my navigation of College Park and so many stories about campus life help you feel good about school and life at UMD. I understand living somewhere new with challenging courses and new people can be overwhelming but it doesn’t to be! Make sure to come with lots of questions!

Describe your college experience
Moving to UMD has been a rollercoaster throughout the transition process but has been the best experience of my life where campus has become home and the friends I’ve made there have become family.
Tip for future students
It’s okay to not know everything but it’s not okay to give up. It truly does take time and patience to adjust to the life of a college student but it’s so worth it.
Favorite class
BIOE 121 because this lab was self-paced where you form friendships with lab partners and work with your group throughout the semester.
Career goals
I want to help support women’s healthcare rights and hopefully work to help victims of sexual assault and other forms of domestic violence.
Ideal way to spend a free night
With friends eating good food and doing something outside.
High school or secondary school
Perry Hall High School
Favorite spot on campus
A. James Clark Hall because it has so many spots for quiet or group study and it’s not usually that crowded.
Meeting point
Frederick Douglass Square on the University of Maryland campus
