Describe your college experience

Coming from a low-income area, transitioning to college was challenging at first. I had to adjust to a new environment, higher academic expectations, and being more independent. Over time, I developed better study habits and learned how to manage my time more effectively. Joining organizations also helped me find a supportive community of people who motivate me, encourage me, and are willing to help me succeed. My college experience so far has taught me the importance of stepping outside of my comfort zone, building connections, and believing in myself.

Tip for future students

I know it may sound cliché, but my biggest piece of advice is to get involved. Join organizations, attend events, and put yourself out there, even if it feels outside of your comfort zone. College is not just about the classes or the degree, it’s the people you meet and the connections you build that make the experience special. Some of my best experiences have come from getting involved and surrounding myself with people who encourage and support me.

Favorite class

My favorite class has been WRA 101 at MSU because it gave me the opportunity to dig deeper into who I am while adjusting to college as a freshman. The class encouraged me to reflect on my interests, strengths, and goals, which helped me better understand myself and what I wanted my future to look like. It also gave me the space to explore different majors and career paths before deciding what direction I wanted to take. WRA 101 was more than just a writing class, it helped me become more confident in myself and my decisions as I began my college journey.

Career goals

After college, I hope to pursue a career in either sales engineering or project management. I’m interested in combining my technical knowledge with communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills. Ultimately, I want a career where I can work with people, take on meaningful projects, and continue growing both professionally and personally.

Ideal way to spend a free night

My ideal way to spend a free night is hanging out with friends, whether that’s trying a new restaurant, going on a late-night drive, or finding something spontaneous to do around town. I love having a night where we can put school and responsibilities aside, laugh, catch up, and make memories together.

Favorite spot on campus

My favorite spot on campus is the River Trail. It is a place I go when I need a break, especially at night after studying or in between classes. Walking along the trail helps me clear my mind, relax, and reset when I’m feeling stressed. It has become a peaceful space where I can take a moment for myself while enjoying the campus environment.
