Outgoing STEM major who knows how to balance a good time and a tough schedule

Hello! I’m Kaylee, an Electrical Engineering major with a focus toward Patent Law! I went into UGA not knowing anything about the traditions, culture, and had zero clue about what I wanted to do with my life. Over the course of my freshman year, I went from a nervous, unknowing person, to someone who is incredibly happy about where they are today! I’ve learned about so many hidden gems and opportunities that Georgia has to offer, as well as navigated the best way to balance a social life, school schedule, and being on my own for the very first time. During that time, I wish I had someone who could have made the transition easier and guided me toward success quicker. I would love to be that person for you!

Describe your college experience

Dorm life is hard to get used to and I had a rough transition, and I definitely wish I had someone to give me all of the tips and tricks to maximizing my freshman year experience. I ended up meeting the right people, finding what I love, and enjoying student life, but still go through some rough patches and struggling moments.

Tip for future students

The biggest tip I can give is to truly try to immerse yourself in the college experience. It is extremely easy to isolate yourself and become in a dark place if you don’t make that initial step to put yourself out there. Go to all welcome events, introduce yourself to others, join a club or two, and truly try to find the happiness in the everyday.

Favorite class

My favorite class has been my Conservation of Natural Resources class because I made lifelong friends, and learned all about environmental responsibilities. It gave me something to enjoy and become passionate about outside of my major.

Career goals

I hope to graduate with a bachelors in Electrical Engineering and then go to law school for Patent Law.

Ideal way to spend a free night

My ideal night is playing volleyball with my friends, and then having a movie night in.

High school or secondary school

Mill Creek High School

Favorite spot on campus

My favorite secret spot on campus is definitely the free nap pod located inside of the Pharmacy building because it gave me and my friends a nice place to relax during our breaks.
