Describe your college experience

My transition to college was a big change, especially moving from India to the U.S. and adjusting to a new environment and education system. So far, my experience at UMD has helped me become more independent, improve my time management, and step outside my comfort zone. I’ve also enjoyed getting involved through RecWell, meeting new people, and exploring my interests in mathematics, technology, and data.

Tip for future students

Don’t be afraid to step outside your comfort zone. Get involved early, talk to people, and take advantage of the resources and opportunities around you. Also, don’t be afraid to ask for help; figuring everything out on your own isn’t always the best way to learn.

Favorite class

My favorite class has been Statistics because I enjoy using mathematics to understand real-world data and find patterns. I like that it combines problem-solving with practical applications, and it has made me more interested in data analysis, finance, and machine learning.

Career goals

After college, I hope to build a career at the intersection of mathematics, data, technology, and finance. I’m interested in areas like data science, quantitative finance, and analytics, where I can use problem-solving and technical skills to work on real-world problems.

Ideal way to spend a free night

My ideal free night would be getting food with friends, watching a movie or playing some games, and just relaxing after a busy week. If there’s a soccer game on, I’d definitely try to watch that too.

Favorite spot on campus

My favorite spot on campus is **McKeldin Mall** because it’s a great place to relax, study, or just take a break between classes. I also like how lively it gets with students around, events happening, and the campus community coming together.
