Incoming Revelle Triton | Neuroscience major, violinist, here to show you UCSD
Hi! I'm Angel, an incoming freshman at Revelle College studying Cognitive and Behavioral Neuroscience with a Math minor. I'm bilingual in English and Spanish, I play violin in mariachi, and I'm currently teaching myself Japanese for fun. I'm excited about UCSD's research opportunities and hope to eventually pursue a PhD in neuroscience — but mostly, I just love meeting new people and sharing what I've learned about navigating this campus. Come say hi, ask me anything, and I'll show you around!

Describe your college experience
My transition to college has been very smoothly, been part of summer bridge program, and being able to live on campus while taking clases, has been from a big help.
Tip for future students
Don't wait until you feel "ready" to reach out to people, professors, upperclassmen, whoever. I spent a long time planning everything out on my own before I started emailing people, and I wish I'd started those conversations sooner. The people who seem intimidating to talk to are usually the most excited to hear from you.

Career goals
I want to go on to get a PhD in neuroscience, with a focus that connects memory and neurostimulation research to AI/ML applications. Long-term, I'd love for that work to eventually take me abroad, Japan is high on my list.
Ideal way to spend a free night
Probably in my room with my violin, working through a piece or messing around with a composition idea, maybe with a sci-fi or fantasy book waiting on my nightstand for when I need a break. If friends are around, I'm just as happy trading stories or finding some live music to go to.
