Enthusiastic nursing major who wants to make everyone feel at home :)

Hi! I'm Oluwatomi, a current sophomore and a nursing student at the University of Pennsylvania. One of my life mottos is to "do it for the plot," and this mentality was exactly why I applied for Penn. I'm all for taking a risk and learning to become comfortable with the uncomfortable! Aside from being obsessed with the human body and improving our healthcare system, you will find me raising my "yah yah" as an alto in the New Spirit of Penn's gospel choir, saving myself a front seat at MNO's (Minorities in Nursing Organzation) events or taking a deep breath before I answer yet another phone call and connect with past alumni of the university as an Engagement Ambassador. In my free time, I LOVE to purchase my kombuchas from Gourmet Grocer, stay up late at night talking to my friends (be it in person or via FaceTime, the only exception I make for missing sleep), or walk 3-5 miles on the Schuylkill River. I think college is a big TV show and each season has its own plot. My goal is to help you make the most of it and find the best setting, characters, and other items that will make it a memorable one!

Describe your college experience

I had a fulfilling college experience! I had a wonderful experience with my freshman year roommate, and I was able to fully excel at the different courses I took. I also found a community in my choir and people to do life with, and that's truly been a blessing!

Tip for future students

1. Have no expectations; allow yourself to be fully surprised with the new experiences you will have in college! 2. Make room for yourself to grow. 3. Stay up late sometimes, but not all the time! 4. If you're going to eat out all the time, get a credit card and earn cashback!

Favorite class

I loved the Positive Psychology class I took this past spring! I think it forced me to understand the importance of wellbeing and what it means to flourish in all aspects of my life. Attending a school that values the "work hard, play hard" quote has challenged me to find avenues of rest that allow me to reset properly and become the best version of myself!

Career goals

I hope to gain clinical experience working as a pediatric registered nurse and would then love to further my education and become a family nurse practitioner.

Ideal way to spend a free night

I would love to take an everything shower—a nice shave and body scrub—get into a clean pajama set, have a 15- 30-minute journal session, read for at least 15 minutes (preferably a physical book) and FaceTime my family or a friend with Trader Joe's takis, yum!

High school or secondary school

Eleanor Roosevelt High School

Favorite spot on campus

I love the Academic Research Building on campus. It's SO empty on the weekends and I love being able to study and just complete some administrative tasks without having to socialize.

Meeting point

Outside the entrance to Class of 1920 Commons on the University of Pennsylvania campus
