Friendly neuroscience major who knows the best spots to study and take pictures

Hi! I'm Wynn, and I'm a second-year neuroscience major on the pre-med track at GW. I'm a proud member of the GW Troubadors and the American Medical Women's Association. I came to GW after 3 years of international boarding school and truly found a home within Foggy Bottom's campus; a change from the usual blazers and uniforms, but an experience I wouldn't have traded for the world. During my first year, I lived on the Vern, a secondary campus for GW, and home to many of the sports teams, including soccer, rowing, baseball, and softball. I often went to the Buff and Brew cafe for my morning coffee, and rode the infamous Vex to Foggy for a majority of my classes every day. There is rarely a time you will not see me with a group of friends. I can often be found studying through the windows of Duques, singing and playing piano in the lounge of Strong Hall, performing on stage with my a capella group, or simply skating around the monuments. I'm always happy to share my favorite spots for studying or simply spending leisurely time around DC! So please feel free to ask any questions or ask about my experiences living in the city throughout every season of the year.

Describe your college experience

My transition to college has been amazing. While academics were quite the rigorous adjustment, I came out of my freshman year feeling like I started to get used to how things ran. I met some of my best friends while in my freshman year, and the experience and memories I have made have been truly unforgettable. Through my organizations and the people I spend my time surrounding myself with, I truly believe I have found a home in GW.

Tip for future students

Something I wish I knew before starting my first year at college was to be more spontaneous. I think that I have found some of my best friends in the most unlikely of ways. Though I've met some through traditional methods such as class or through my organizations, going outside and trying something new like a different hobby or walking into a practice room to compliment someone's talent are just some ways I've been able to apply spontenaity to find my place in university.

Favorite class

My favorite class so far has been psychology. I find the study of the brain intuiging and I love the concepts that we covered in the class. The professor was extremely accomodating and kept the class engaging even on topics that seemed mundane. Learning things like child psychology, brain function and structures, and child development were some of my favorite topics that we had studied.

Career goals

I plan to go to medical school to become a neurologist.

Ideal way to spend a free night

My ideal way to spend a free night is going to a concert or walking around and exploring DC with friends.

High school or secondary school

The Hill School

Favorite spot on campus

The business school (Duques) is my favorite place on campus. It is often quiet and a great place to study because there are numerous spots on each floor that have chairs and whiteboard walls. In addition, downstairs in the lobby, there is a coffee shop that sells crepes, normal breakfast food, pastries, and different kinds of drinks.
