Positive engineering senior who enjoys socializing and exploring campus on foot.
Hello! I am Diana, I am a Senior in the Engineering department. I love exploring new places for study sessions and lately, pushing myself to be more outgoing. I miss my mom's cooking, so I am learning some recipes she makes [ hopefully they taste good :,) ]. Although I love to socialize, I am a home body and I will pick watching movies and reading a book over anything else any day.

Describe your college experience
I was a first generation college student and I have a really close relationship with my family so coming to college was not so easy. It was a big adjustment to move out and start building my life at college, but I was able to learn so much, not just academically. I was pushed to mature in various areas, I learned how to live by myself and everything that comes with that, as well as solve issues on my own. It has been a valuable experience to be here.
Tip for future students
I wish I new the importance of joining clubs when I first started. Its hard being in engineering so joining a club helps you get friends in your field, technical experience, and helps you learn more about your major. I also wish I knew that it is okay to switch majors, it seems very complicated but its really not. Mainly, just ask any question you have, it is so mush better asking a million questions than brushing it off.
Favorite class
My favorite class has actually been a theater class I took, where we would read scripts of plays that were not as recognized, and talk about the meaning of it and how and why it was structured that way. We also watched the plays and we were able to pick up some of the things we had discussed. I loved that it was out of my comfort zone; it emphasized your opinions and ideas and it was really refreshing.
Career goals
I really hope to get a job in a place like solar turbines, where I can apply what I learned in a more practical/technical way. I want to design or repair aircrafts and get as much experience doing that and later on transfer to a job at nasa to design or repair spacecrafts or satellites.
Ideal way to spend a free night
If im living on campus and I have no assignments or exams or anything academically tying me, I would want to have a nice time with a close friend, maybe grab lunch and/or coffee and talk, go to the movies with her, or take lunch to the beach and just relax.

Favorite spot on campus
I honestly think that my favorite spot is price center. I have a lot of fun memories all over price, the computer lab, the bookstore, starbucks and the new seating area they built outside of panda. I study there all the time and I also hang out with my fiends and just make memories. It holds a lot of sentimental value.
