First Generation Student who knows their way around campus
Hello! I'm Genesis and I'm a going into my sophomore year at UC Santa Cruz. I moved from SoCal up to Santa Cruz because like you I had gone on a tour of the campus as a high school junior and just fell in love with the campus. I spend most of my time on campus drinking boba or coffee and photographing the various animals that roam on campus because the deer and squirrels in particular aren't afraid to approach me or to stay still for a photo or two. I'd be happy to let you in on our mascot's history or just the best routes to take through the forest between classes.

Describe your college experience
So far it has taken some getting used to considering I moved seven hours away from home but I enjoyed living with the people I did my first year as we all got along well.
Tip for future students
Going to office hours is a great way to establish relationships with professors that can benefit you in the long run as it opens up doors to possible professional opportunities.
Favorite class
My favorite class has been my intro to comics class I took during my first winter quarter because I got to learn the process behind writing a cohesive comic. And I also got to learn how to use a Risograph printer to mass produce my comic.
Career goals
I hope to have a career in the arts or use my skills in Spanish to become an interpreter.
Ideal way to spend a free night
My perfect free night would involve going out to Banana Joe's for dinner and setting up my roommate's projector and watching a movie with them and some friends.
High school or secondary school
Westminster High School
Favorite spot on campus
My favorite spot on campus is Stevenson College as there's plenty of places to sit down and it overlooks the east field which is one of my favorite places to be during sunset.
